A blur of blatant slurs aimed carelessly toward your blameful case for
What will wishing do.
Swim away from safety and forget the sinking feeling while I remember
You love fishing dew:
The cool compliments condensed from the sweat and tears I drip for you.
Well I’m fresh out of flatteries today and good intentions too.
My store is empty of the fresh stuff, sorry, we’re only stocking stout
Canned words, bottled emotions, with rocky roads, I scream…talk, then shout
-
As if patience persisted through the painful presence of a problem thawing out
My arms are frozen—they won’t open the next time you’re calling out.
Butterflies are masters in the art of camouflage, experts in using their appearance in their favor.
If my brain had a say in my heart’s affairs
I’d never have a second thought,
But if logic was the way love worked
Not one ever would have fought.
Australia. A beautiful country with
Even more beautiful people in it—
And I feel a pain to belong because
Not many will ever know my luck.
People, generally indifferently content
Accommodating those lucky enough
To party above The Glass Ceiling
Retain bitter feelings for life, or an
Itch to reverse the structure of time’s
Concrete set society. I stand, they
Kneel and neither throws the stone.
Male, White, Semi-Tall. That puts me
About 97.5% ahead of the rest.
Let it be known that I am aware
Of the world’s discrimination and
Nothing hurts more than knowing
Everything I ‘get’ to avoid in life.
This is what I exist for. To prove humanity is not lost. Thank you, life.
One life ago, you and I were lovers
Enamored by each other
We rode across a world in glory
Captivated by our story.
We painted skies with stars at night,
Filled darkness with our only light
And when our bodies said goodbye
We promised that We’d never die
I search to find your soul again
My words are kind for you in pen
The pine for love is worth it
For life last time was perfect
I see you twice a week, riding your bike down my street
Weary, beaten, cold and defeated–you pedal along like your feet have never needed
A rest. But you push on with a look on your face like the recently
Arrested ride to face the crimes they’ve committed. They resent it.
But you don’t. You’re alone. So utterly alone that you don’t even know
What a two bedroom apartment has to show to a girl that smiles
Like Julia Stiles in Dexter. That is never. You’re ‘the mugshot girl’ to me
For as much as I can see, you need a friend like a criminal needs to breathe.
But not today.
Today you walked your bike. I saw your smile shine–glowing while on the phone
Your laugh carried you as contently as I watched–knowing that today you’re not alone.
I met a guy yesterday named Ellis D. Otherwise known as LSD, which is funny because he was the biggest druggie I have ever met and that is not a joke. He was a spitting image of Shaggy from Scooby Doo—from the hair to the green shirt. Anyway, he said two very important things that have forever changed my life.
One: “I like to think that I chill harder than most people party.”
Haha, and
Two: “Life is all about minor acts of kindness, because in the end they all add up. Its not about the grand gestures of kindness, but the small things in everyday life, like letting someone go ahead at a stop sign. I try to live by that.”

I realized that he is completely right. We were brought up to think, ‘well what do I get out of it,’ but it doesn’t matter who you’re giving to or why you’re giving, you just have to do it. Reach out to anyone and everyone, they appreciate it more than you know. Even if they don’t give back, it will all come back around. Nice guys finish last…with all the happiness in the world.
